9/28/07 Love it or hate it, that Halo franchise is by far one of the most successful series of games in the history of...anything. The launch of Halo 3 on September 25th was no exception. With people lined up out the doors at nearly every video game merchant in the US, it could best be described as a nationwide party. While the real action was at Best Buy on 5th Ave, where G4 and SpikeTV were, pitting celebrities against average joes in multiplayer games of Halo 3 the entire day before the release, we stayed local and checked out the Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst, NY. While missing much of the bombast of the Manhattan WORLD premiere, it certainly didn't lack the electricity or heart. Over 500 hardcore fans (and in some cases hardcore parents) lined up between the 2 Gamestop locations. PBC was there, and we sicked the hilarious Devon Riley on fans, employees, parents, and even the district manager for Gamestop to talk about the epic release in his zany style.
You will notice this week that, much like the ESA, PBC has implemented a voluntary ratings system. Many of our fans are used to the squeaky clean language of Captain S. While we are not advocates of profanity for the sake of profanity, sometimes it can be useful, funny, or unavoidable. We have given the Halo 3 launch video an M for mature due to the naughty language some of the fanboys spout while talking to Devon, and yes, even for a few of the questions Devon asked. We will use this system on future videos so fans can be aware of the content.
9/21/07 Our Filler Friday this week finds us many millennia into the future, in a post apocalyptic world. What better evidence of the future to bring back than a cable access show about the past? This installment of History Science Theater takes a look back at the early 21st century and man's obsession with filming...himself. Ernest Beiersdorf and Professor Science tackle the strange beast that is Youtube.
9/14/07 Tonight, you get two for one. First, this week's Filler Friday is a killer behind-the-scenes look at the music video for Heart Tits by the Grammar Club . The Grammar Club is the nerdcore/indie rock collaboration of Shael Riley, Glenn Case, Beefy, and DJ Snyder. The song comes off of their album, set to be released later this month.
Along with that snack-sized bite of awesome, we're bringing you THE announcement. Actually, announcements. It's a little late, we know, but we had to wait for Screwattack. And since they spilled the beans on their podcast yesterday, we decided to follow suit with one of Brett's..."quaint" video blogs. January roadtrip, anyone?
Captain S/Angry Video Game Nerd blooper reel
9/6/07 OK, So we're sorry we promised an announcement on monday and then didn't deliver. Totally our bad. An announcement is coming, we're just not sure when now. It will be soon, though. And it will be sweet. To make it up to you, we have a tasty Captain S morsel for you tonight with the blooper reel from the Captain S/Angry Videogame Nerd Christmas episode. James can't keep a straight face, Chad tries not to make straight faces, and Brett f***s up every line in the episode...at some point. Go on, have a few laughs at our expense. We can take it.
